What a wild “winter” we’ve had. Thankfully spring is here and we are here receiving fresh shipments daily. We are filling the beds, garden center and greenhouse with all your gardening and property beautification needs. Stop by and see us we are happy to try and assist you with all of your gardening and plant questions or needs. With our management staff, you will be receiving over 50 years of nursery experience. We can field the bug, fungus, and pest problem questions with 1st hand experience. Our goal is to make you successful in all your gardening endeavors. Rely on our knowledgeable staff to advise and assist you this spring. Quality plants and knowledgeable service is our goal.

Garden Center

This convenient nursery location offers a full selection of shade and flowering trees, Japanese maples, shrubs, groundcovers, and perennial and annual flowers, including Proven Winners and Simply Beautiful.

In addition to our plant material, which includes native plants, we have garden tools, topsoil and planting mixes, mulches, fertilizers, and pesticides, and a wide variety of organic products.  Yes, everything you’ll need to plant and care for your lawn and garden.

This nursery serves Winchester, Berryville, Waterloo, Boyce, Millwood, Stephens City, Inwood, Rippon, and nearby areas.


Winchester is home to the Shenandoah Apple Blossom festival. This will be the 92nd annual festival. More than 250,000 people will attend the 6 days of events. This year “the Bloom” will be held April 26th – May 5th, 2019. The festival has been attended by many celebrities in the past including Lucille Ball, Adam West, Martha Stewart, and Dan Aykroyd just to name a few. The 6 days of the festival have many events and entertainment to keep everyone busy. A Firemans parade(featuring over 170 firetruck and squad units), The Grand Feature parade(includes floats, bands, special units, and official cars). The parade usually lasts about 3 hours. Weekend in the park held at Jim Barnett Park features over 250 craft and food vendors as well as live music. Handley High School is the spot to be May 4th, 2018 @8 PM for the Fireworks Concert. So come on out to Winchester and celebrate spring with us here in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

May 11th –The 24th annual “of Ale and History“ Microbrew & Imported Beer Tasting Festival @ historic Belle Grove Plantation This event is a must for every regular and visitor looking to enjoy good music, views, and beer. Now in its 21st year, Belle Grove’s “Of Ale and History” Beer Fest is the longest running craft beer festival in Virginia. More than 70 beers will be on tap for tasting and there will be great music from the Robbie Limon Band and The Reflex. Tickets will go on sale in April.

March 19th The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association will host a “Gardening in the Shenandoah Valley Symposium”.  NSVMGA’s Gardening in the Valley Symposium, a day of education and fun with fellow gardeners, is March 9, 2019, at Shenandoah University. All proceeds benefit the Memorial Scholarship Fund

June 2nd – The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association will again host Garden Fest featuring an extensive plant sale, gardening demonstrations and talks, vendors, and children’s activities. Admission and parking for the festival are free and tours of Belle Grove’s Manor House will be conducted at a reduced admission fee. More details to come!

Activities include a plant sale, displays, demonstrations, raffle prizes food vendors and more.

June 2nd and 3rd   –  Virginia Herb Festival

Our Team Members

Nursery Manager: John Gebhardt

Part of the Meadows Farms Team: Since 1991

  • Hobbies and Interests: John has been growing orchids as a hobby for many years, former President of the Lord Fairfax Orchid Society in Winchester and winner of several awards for his orchids at the National Capital Orchid Society show and sale at the National Arboretum located in Washington D.C. held annually on Columbus Day weekend.
  • Hometown: Germantown, MD
  • Favorite Plant: Some of John’s favorite landscape plants include but are not limited to Dawn Redwoods, many different varieties of Japanese maples, Hinoki Cypress, Park Bark maples, Horse Chestnuts, Clump River Birch, Sweetbay Magnolia, Nandina, as well as numerous perennial plants that we sell.

First Assistant Manager: Jason Cowne

Part of the Meadows Farms Team: Hired as a laborer – Winchester 1996; 2nd Assistant – Winchester 1998; Sr. 1st Assistant – Frederick, MD 1999. Worked in the industry for outside companies before returning to the Meadows Farms family in 2013.

  • Education: Certificate – Professional Landscape Management 1999. Bachelor’s degree in progress – Environmental Science at Lord Fairfax Community College.
  • Hobbies and Interests: Whitewater boating of any kind (kayaking, rafting, canoeing), camping, backpacking, hiking, gardening and improving the pond and wetlands at my home.
  • Hometown: Gerrardstown, WV
  • Favorite Plant: Taxodium distichum (Bald Cypress), Cahmaecyparis obtusa ‘Fernspray’ (Fernspray Cypress)

Second Assistant Manager: Mindy Good

Part of the Meadows Farms Team: Since 2006 on and off

  • Education: Musselmans High School
  • Hobbies and Interests: Mindy enjoys hiking and taking in the nature that surrounds us. She enjoys spending time with her son and working with all of the lovely annuals and perennials that she nurtures into strong healthy plants on a daily basis.
  • Hometown: Inwood, WV
  • Favorite Plant: Mindy finds all orchids interesting but her favorite landscape plant is the Contorted Filbert ‘Harry Lauders Walking Stick’

Manager Trainee: Amy Farmer

Employed with Meadows Farms: Since March 2016

  • Education: Graduated from Handley High School in 1999
  • Hobbies and Interests: Working outside with plants is a hobby I enjoy at home just as much as I do at work. All of my children take interest in it as well so we all learn a lot together.
  • Hometown: Winchester, VA
  • Favorite Plant: Aquilegia
