Autumn is around the Bend!

We welcome Fall here on the farm! It has been one hot and humid summer, and we are all ready for some cooler weather here at the nursery. Fresh shipments have already started arriving! Our selection of trees and shrubs has been bolstered by recent additions. Fall perennials, another great addition to the garden, will be shipped within the last weeks of August and into September. Ornamental grasses, asters, sedums, black-eyed susans, coral bells, aneomies, and coneflowers, are just some of the different perennial varieties that will continue to give you additional color through these fall months. Seed packets for cool weather growing have also just landed! These seed packet varieties focus on vegetables that can be grown in cool weather, herbs, cover crops, and an assortment of perennial flowers. Most of these seed packets can be planted now and into the early fall. Great for school science projects, butterfly gardens, or your own home garden enjoyment!

As the weather starts to turn cooler, the time is now to begin giving your lawn a little extra TLC. We carry grass seed, lawn fertilizer, soil amendments, and lawn soil to help maintain a lush healthy lawn; or to start a new one. Currently, we carry Espoma lawn and garden soil, Espoma lawn amendments and fertilizers, pelletized lime, straw, and paper lawn bags. Our grass seed line features Emerald Park, Rebels, and for those with large seeding projects our Meadows Farms 50lb Mix.   For those customers who want instant lawn glory, we will also be carrying sod. Sod, at 10 square feet per roll, will be available for purchase thru October.

At the start of October, we celebrate autumn with a fall festival! At the time of this writing, we intend to host our festival with a pumpkin patch, complete with a moon bounce, giant “scarecrow”, and spooky bus. We will be carrying exotic decorative gourds, face pumpkins, cornstalks, mini hay bales, straw, and various other Halloween décor. We look forward to seeing you these next couple of months here at Great Falls Meadows Farms!
