Spring is here at Meadows Farms in Stafford! We are all ready for warmer temperatures after a cold winter. Shipments are coming in now of your favorite spring-blooming annuals and perennials, as well as shrubs and trees. We’ve also begun receiving a nice selection of summer bulbs, fruit trees, Espoma products, and houseplants. Herbs and veggies are coming soon. And don’t forget to pick up Preen Pre-Emergent Weed Preventer when you shop with us for our Mulch Madness sale mid-March!
Something new for 2025 will be our selection of mountain mint. Mountain mint is an excellent pollinator attractor with a long and beautiful bloom cycle. We will have a number of varieties of these excellent native plants for pollinators this year which you’ll find in our perennial section. Don’t let the word mint scare you, these varieties of mint are tame and not invasive as other mints. You’ll find varieties for shade or sun and dry or moist soils. Stop by to select the right one for you and watch your yard come to life with pollinators of all kinds.
Spring is a great time to work on lawns. Whether you are establishing a new lawn with fresh sod, over seeding, or revitalizing your existing grass for thickness and spring green-up, we can help you select the right supplies for the job. Remember that spring is a fantastic time to begin prevention for summer crabgrass. Crabgrass prevention products are by far the better option than hand pulling to reign in this unwanted weed before it overtakes your beautiful lawn.
Easter is right around the corner, too. We can order beautiful easter lilies, hyacinths, and hydrangeas for you. Mother’s Day isn’t far either and we’ll have our beds and displays filled with a variety of roses. From traditional, to climbing, to groundcover, to double knock-out varieties, you can be assured our roses will make a beautiful gift.
We will be holding events for the kids as well. Weekend crafting events to build, paint, plant, and play will be announced via our text messaging outreach as well as email and of course our roadside sign! We have a permanent play area for the kids now too, complete with a sandbox and sand toys and even a junior farmer potting bench. You can shop while the kiddos play!
