Pumpkins Are Not Just For Pies"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>DECORATING WITH PUMPKINS AND OTHER EXOTIC GOURDS FOR THE FALL<\/h3>\n<p>Fall officially arrived last month but it sure hasn\u2019t felt like fall until now.\u00a0 Since September, we have been experiencing above average temperatures.\u00a0 Here we are in late October and finally starting to experience average, cool temperatures.\u00a0 It\u2019s pumpkin season time!!!\u00a0 Everyone is decorating with pumpkins and gourds.\u00a0 With all the pumpkins and other gourds now in season, it is time to add some whimsy to your landscape, patio, or porch with fall festive colors.<\/p>\n<p>So, what\u2019s trending now?\u00a0 It is creating a PUMPKIN CONTAINER.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t difficult and doing a pumpkin container will allow your creative juices to flow.\u00a0 I have some very simple and logical tips on creating that \u201cone of a kind\u201d pumpkin container garden.\u00a0 First, I suggest that you coat the exterior of the pumpkin or gourde with some type of sealant.\u00a0 This sealant will give your pumpkin longevity and could keep your pumpkin firm long into the winter.\u00a0 Second, you cut the top 1\/3 and scoop out all the pulp and seeds from the inside (tip:\u00a0 save the seeds for roasting).\u00a0 Third, use a knife and cut a drainage hole in the bottom.\u00a0 I recommend putting a small amount of gravel or use a coffee filter over the drainage hole so that the soil does not block the hole from draining excess water.\u00a0 Fourth, you fill the pumpkin with soil up to about 2 inches from the top.\u00a0 Finally, you are now ready to be creative and plant some of your favorite fall plants.\u00a0 You can use any of the more unusual exotic gourds the same way as the traditional orange pumpkin but give you a different container look.\u00a0 Blue Hubbards and Full Moon White pumpkins make unique containers for the fall season.<\/p>\n<p>Give this idea a try.\u00a0 You will have fun because family and friends will marvel at your idea.<\/p>\n<p>Come\u00a0and see us for all your fall decorating needs.\u00a0 We have a good selection of pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, straw bales, and more.\u00a0 Speaking of hay bales\u2026how about the idea of using a hay bale as a container?\u00a0 Just cut out a section of the bale and add some soil.\u00a0 Plant it with some flowers such as pansies or violas and you have just created a very interesting planter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/greatbiggreenhouse.com\/blog\/\">To read more of Doug&#8217;s blogs, click here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DECORATING WITH PUMPKINS AND OTHER EXOTIC GOURDS FOR THE FALL Fall officially arrived last month but it sure hasn\u2019t felt like fall until now.\u00a0 Since September, we have been experiencing above average temperatures.\u00a0 Here we are in late October and finally starting to experience average, cool temperatures.\u00a0 It\u2019s pumpkin season time!!!\u00a0 Everyone is decorating with &#8230;
