I LOVE THIS PLANT

My selected plant to highlight is the Itea virginica ‘Henry’s Garnet’. Or, more commonly referred to as Virginia Sweetspire.

As you may figure out with Virginia being in its name, Virginia Sweetspire is a native shrub to our area. Right now it is in flower. It has fragrant, white flower spikes that are 3 to 6-inches long that covers the shrub from now to early summer. Virginia Sweetspire is noted for having large flowers and fantastic fall color.

“Henry’s Garnet” prefers to be planted in full sun to partial shade. It does well in moist, slightly acidic, humus-rich soils.
