By the way, PETRICHOR<\/strong>\u00a0is defined as\u00a0\u201cTHE SMELL OF EARTH AFTER RAIN\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n To a gardener, rain is generally a welcome blessing.\u00a0 Rainfall and plants are usually a match made in heaven.\u00a0 We sure have had our share of rainfall, and petrichor, \u00a0this past week in the Richmond area.\u00a0 Going into this latest rainfall, we were about 2 inches behind our normal rainfall for the year.\u00a0 Well, needless to say, we are now in the positive for the year which is a good thing.\u00a0 I had close to 5 inches of rain at my house Thursday night into Friday morning and over 8 inches with this latest storm.\u00a0 Then, we had more storms and showers Tuesday evening.\u00a0 We are saturated needless to say.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to jinx this good fortune but sometimes there can be too much of a good thing.<\/p>\n With all the rain that we have received this past week, a lot of questions from customers who are concerned about future plant problems.\u00a0 Customers are asking \u201cwill too much rain kill plants?\u201d\u00a0 There\u2019s no question that excessive rain on plants can cause plenty of trouble in the garden.\u00a0 So, what are some of the concerns after heavy rains?<\/p>\n RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY<\/em><\/strong> (It should be\u00a0MOMMY AND DADDY WANT TO PLAY<\/em>\u00a0 but I took the liberty to change it up a little)<\/p>\n This nursery rhyme seems fitting right now.\u00a0 Have you looked at our extended weather forecast?\u00a0 We have rain predicted again this weekend.\u00a0 Our rivers, streams, and reservoirs are nice and full.\u00a0 I just hope that come summer we will continue to have good timely rainfall and keep our yearly rainfall total in the positive.<\/p>\n HAPPY GARDENING!!!<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By the way, PETRICHOR\u00a0is defined as\u00a0\u201cTHE SMELL OF EARTH AFTER RAIN\u201d.
