Stone Walls, Paths and Masonry
|
Meadows Farms has been an industry trend setter in building dry laid and masonry stone walls and paths for more than thirty years. While the Washington D.C. area is reknowned for its rustic Colonial era stone walls bordering the fields of farms along rural pikes, stone work was largely a forgotten feature in landscapes until Meadows Farms made it affordable in the late 1970's. Stone walls, paths, and masonry are now a staple of landscape design in northern Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington D.C., and Meadows Farms is among the largest installers of stone in the country.
We construct stone walls in a range of colors and textures. The key in selecting the proper stone for a project is to match the density of the stone with the desired color. We want a rock that is soft enough that our craftsmen can shape it for walls and paths, but durable enough to withstand the elements over many years.
Meadows Farms constructs walls with stones that are dry laid as well as masonry walls backed with concrete. Stone walls can be freestanding or used to terrace slopes.
