Joy believes a beautiful design is the result of listening to her clients, assessing each site for ways to enhance it naturally, and choosing complementary plants and materials for a specific garden style. Satisfying a client is the most important goal for Joy. A satisfied client means the design fits the client’s personality, the site and the client’s budget. A successful installation is the combination of a solid design with the craftsmanship of the crew who installs it. Joy and the professional crews at Meadows Farms are a one-two punch combination.
Joy’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Georgia with an emphasis in design. She completed post-graduate studies at George Washington University in Landscape Design and Woody Plants. She brings over 13 years of practical and artistic experience as a landscape designer to Meadows Farms, having had her own design firm in Virginia -- Southern Exposure Landscape Design -- for over eight years. She has worked as a designer with Natural Enhancements Landscapes as well as several other landscape contractors.
Several of her landscape projects have been featured on Virginia Garden Club’s Garden Week tours, as well as in several publications. Giving back to her local community, Joy sat on the local Planning Commission for a number of years and taught landscape design courses in her area for do-it-yourself gardeners.
